Wisdom Teeth Removal

Wisdom teeth removal

Wisdom teeth, also known as third molars, are the last set of teeth to emerge, typically between the ages of 17 and 25. While some people have no issues with their wisdom teeth, many experience pain, misalignment, or infections, making removal necessary. At Neola Dental, our experienced team provides safe and efficient wisdom teeth extractions to protect your oral health and prevent future complications.

What is wisdom teeth removal?

Wisdom teeth removal is a common oral surgery procedure designed to extract one or more wisdom teeth when they cause problems such as overcrowding, infections, or pain. Depending on the position of your wisdom teeth, the extraction can be a simple or surgical procedure. Our specialists at Neola Dental ensure a smooth and stress-free experience using advanced techniques and gentle care.

Signs you may need a wisdom teeth extraction

Not everyone needs to have their wisdom teeth removed, but in many cases, extraction is the best option to prevent future dental issues. You may need wisdom teeth removal if you experience:

Ignoring these symptoms can lead to more serious complications, such as infections, damage to surrounding teeth, and even jawbone issues.

The wisdom teeth removal procedure: what to expect

At Neola Dental, we prioritize patient comfort throughout the entire process. Here’s what you can expect during a wisdom teeth extraction:

Consultation & X-rays

We examine your wisdom teeth and take X-rays to assess their position.

Anesthesia

Depending on your case, we use local anesthesia, sedation, or general anesthesia to ensure a pain-free procedure.

Extraction

If the tooth is visible, we perform a simple extraction. If it is impacted, a small incision may be needed for removal.

Stitching & Recovery

We may place dissolvable stitches to help healing, and you’ll receive detailed aftercare instructions.

Does wisdom teeth extraction hurt? Addressing your concerns

One of the most common concerns patients have is whether wisdom teeth removal is painful. Thanks to modern dental technology and anesthesia options, most patients feel little to no discomfort during the procedure. Mild soreness or swelling is normal after the extraction, but it can be managed with prescribed or over-the-counter pain relievers.

We also offer sedation options for patients who feel anxious about the procedure, ensuring a comfortable and stress-free experience.

Benefits of removing your wisdom teeth

Removing problematic wisdom teeth can significantly improve your oral health and prevent future complications. Some of the key benefits include:

I recently visited Neola Dental for a routine cleaning, and the experience truly exceeded my expectations. From the moment I walked in, the staff was warm, professional, and welcoming. The office was clean and modern, and everything felt very organized.

The cleaning itself was thorough and comfortable, the best dental experience I’ve had. Everyone made sure I felt at ease throughout the entire appointment.

I highly recommend Neola Dental to anyone looking for quality care and a team that genuinely cares about their patients. I’ll definitely be coming back!

Dr. Contreras and her team are all professional, warm, and friendly. Nashley, the office manager, called me personally to confirm my appointment. I especially enjoyed getting a cleaning from Ester, the hygienist, who made it feel like a spa experience! This is the first time that I wanted to hug the dental hygienist! I'm looking forward to my next appointment. I would gladly recommend them to anyone in need of dental services.

Amazing office! Sarah was friendly and welcoming as she escorted me to my chair and proceeded to talk through what the plan was for my visit and the pricing. She then offered a “comfort menu” which consisted of refreshments, a pillow, blanket, Netflix shows among other things. Wow!
Esther is a wonderful hygienist and was gentle and thorough. Dr Contreras was experienced and very helpful with addressing my concerns. The staff gave me a clear treatment plan and guidance on how to move forward. I will definitely be back and this will have to be my new regular dentist! Highly recommend!

Both my husband and I had great experience at Neola Dental! Both of us were first timers there, we both felt this is the dental care we have been looking for. Every one of the team including Nashley, Sara, Esther, Dr. Contreras were welcoming, knowledgeable, friendly. Esther and Dr. Contreras didn’t rush, took the time to explain the current condition and provided recommendations accordingly. Sara explained the billing step by step. The location uses smart technologies, all service equipments are new, clean, top of the line. We are really pleased and hope to receive the continuation of the great services in coming days.

Best dental practice I have ever been too! I’m a very nervous person with dentists after some bad experiences over the years but everyone here are so kind and gentle and professional! I can’t thank even enough for putting my mind at ease and finally giving me a good experience - I am looking forward to my next appointment instead of dreading it!
My periodontist referred me to Neola for a re-evaluation of my mouth. Honestly, the location, the care, and the quality make a huge difference. Finding a new dentist who sees you as a patient (not just like a business) is extremely difficult these days. Thanks to everyone who made my visit comfortable, because many of us look for everything in one place, and for me it is.
Thank you Esther and Dr. Contreras 💖

My experience at Neola Dental was welcoming and comfortable. Everyone was kind and informative. The environment was clean and they are open about hearing your needs. I attached a few pictures of their lobby. Shout out to Esther, Nashley, and Dr. Contreras for taking good care of my teeth and to the Sara and the other receptionist's name I did not catch for taking care of all my paperwork. 😁

Everything went well. People in the front office are very welcoming. Cleaning was excellent. Good explanation of procedures and condition of overall oral health. Esther is excellent. Dr. Contreras as well. She explained everything in detail and made sure following procedures will run smoothly as well. Happy I decided to come to this office. Sometimes you get stuck in an office without exploring other options that could be better for you. I personally invite whoever is reading this review, to come to this office and check if they are what you have been looking for. They made a really good team. Thank you Neola Dental team!

As a medical professional I can say that this practice is top tier. They were so professional and nice. They weren’t judgmental and prices were fair ( went to a couple of other dental office to get prices). I Had a root canal and I didn’t feel a thing even the numbing injection. I wish all medical offices followed them on how to interact with patients. Me, my wife and brother in law will now be their clients.

Frequently Asked Questions about Wisdom teeth removal

Most people start feeling better within a few days, but full healing can take one to two weeks. Following post-op care will help speed up recovery.

Stick to soft foods like yogurt, mashed potatoes, smoothies, and soup for the first few days. Avoid anything hard, crunchy, or spicy to prevent irritation.

It depends on the type of anesthesia used. Some people stay awake with local anesthesia, while others choose sedation or general anesthesia to sleep through the procedure.

The cost varies based on complexity, but it typically ranges from $200 to $600 per tooth. If you have insurance, part of the cost may be covered—ask us, and we’ll help check your benefits!

Not always! If your wisdom teeth aren’t causing pain, crowding, or infection, they may not need removal. We’ll assess your case to determine what’s best for you.

If you had local anesthesia, yes, you can drive. However, if you were sedated or under general anesthesia, you’ll need someone to drive you home for safety reasons.
